Florida by the numbers: Greater Fort Myers Chamber’s May 28 virtual program to present the Florida Scorecard

The Greater Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce is hosting a virtual presentation from noon to 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 28 that will provide in-depth economic insights and metrics for Florida and Lee County.

The Chamber has invited Dr. Jerry Parrish from the Florida Chamber Foundation to present the Florida Scorecard, a data-based information scorecard that shares everything from COVID-19 to unemployment statistics to third-grade reading scores. Parrish will explain the data behind the numbers and then dig deeper into Lee County’s metrics to discuss what they mean for the local business community.

Parrish is the chief economist and director of research for the Florida Chamber Foundation, where he conducts in-depth analyses on the Florida economy and solutions to help secure Florida’s future. Parrish previously was the chief economist and director of the Center for Competitive Florida at Florida TaxWatch, the associate director of the Center for Economic Forecasting & Analysis (CEFA) at Florida State University, and has many years of experience in the private sector at international manufacturing companies. Parrish is currently an adjunct instructor in the Masters in Applied Economics Program at Florida State University. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Business and Economics from Auburn University, a Master of Business Administration from Bellarmine University, a Master of Science in Economics from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and holds a doctorate in Economics from Auburn University. He regularly publishes research reports and articles on the Florida economy and Florida’s competitiveness.

Registration for the Chamber’s virtual event is $10. To learn more or to register, visit FortMyers.org or call 239-332-2930.
