Southwest Florida Community Prayer Breakfast

Date: Thursday, May 2 

Description: The Southwest Florida Community Prayer Breakfast offers attendees an opportunity to pause and reflect. This year, the event will be held at Hammond Stadium at the Lee Health Sports Complex in Fort Myers, and feature a variety of inspirational community and spiritual leaders, as well as power couple as co-keynote speakers: 

  • Tim Tebow, two-time national champion, first-round NFL draft pick and Heisman trophy winner. 
  • Demi-Leigh Tebow, a former Miss Universe 2017 and founder of the Unbreakable Campaign. 

During the event, the couple will share their powerful stories of faith along with their shared passion for serving others. Thanks to generous sponsors, the event is complimentary and includes breakfast and a unified prayer program.

Norman Love Confections’ limited-edition 2024 Mother’s Day Collection will be available through May 12. Flavors in the collection of ultra-premium chocolates pay tribute to sips and nostalgic baked goods like mom used to make.

Costco shoppers in Southwest Florida will have an opportunity to enhance pediatric care in the region by supporting Golisano Children’s Children through the retailer’s annual Children’s Miracle Network fundraising initiative. Details are available at the register.

The 2nd Annual Level HER Up Women’s Conference, presented by the Greater Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce’s Women in Business Committee, includes inspiring speakers, informative health experts and empowering professional workshops, as well as other unique opportunities for attendees to take their career to the next level.

May 1 

Law at the Library, a free legal clinic for area seniors in need of no-cost legal advice, covers topics in civil law of interest to seniors, including landlord-tenant disputes; elder law; filing a case in small claims court; and issues stemming from the aftermath of Hurricane Ian. The clinic is sponsored by Lee County Legal Aid Society with support from AARP Foundation.

Gulf Coast Village is celebrating the upcoming Kentucky Derby with a southern-inspired lunch followed by a community tour. Guests are encouraged to wear a fancy hat as they sip a mint julep and have opportunities to win prizes while learning about the retirement community.

May 3 & 24 

Norman Love Confections will host a molded chocolate class perfect for individuals or groups who want to learn the art of making chocolates, including hand coloring and casting liquid chocolates. Students will create these treats with the guidance of master chocolatiers, and then bring their finished treasures home to enjoy.

The Jewish Federation of Greater Naples is hosting a Community Wide Yom HaShoah Program at the Nina Iser Jewish Cultural Center to remember the Holocaust and its victims. The event includes a candle-lighting ceremony, a keynote speech delivered by Naples resident Abe Asli and remarks from local clergy, Holocaust survivors and their descendants.

May 7 

Michael Masters, national director and CEO of Secure Community Network (SCN), will host a discussion about the Live Secure Program in partnership with the Jewish Federation of Greater Naples. The conversation will cover security in the community, congregations and organizations.

Healthy Humans Hendry-Glades will host free in-person Mental Health First Aid training sessions in LaBelle that teach participants how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges among adults, helping to provide initial support to people struggling.

NAMI Collier County’s 22nd Annual Hope Shines mental health awareness walk, held during Mental Health Awareness Month and Teacher Appreciation Week, will recognize the role that teachers play in mental health. This year’s event will include performances by the Ben Allen Band, team prizes and more.

Goldstein, Buckley, Cechman, Rice & Purtz is the signature sponsor for the 2024 Walk Like MADD & MADD Dash Fort Myers 5K event. The fundraising event helps raise both awareness and funds to eliminate drunk and drugged driving.

The Fort Myers Mighty Mussels will celebrate the island lifestyle at Margaritaville Night, which includes a postgame concert by the Trop Rock Junkies. The game is also Bark in the Park Night when dogs are welcome to watch the game at no cost.

The Greater Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce’s monthly luncheon will feature a special presentation from the guest speaker and opportunities to connect with chamber members and local business leaders.

Florida Senior Consulting invites older adults and their families to a free symposium and luncheon in partnership with FGCU’s Shady Rest Institute on Positive Aging. Panelists from Florida Senior Consulting, Senior Friendship Centers, Lee Health and FGCU will offer insights into positive aging, safe transitions, thriving while aging in place, home safety and senior living.

Senior Choice at Home will host an informational seminar in Fort Myers that includes a complimentary meal, presentation and question-and-answer session about the membership-based program designed for healthy, proactive and independent seniors who wish to age in the comfort of their homes.

The Greater Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce welcomes business leaders and community members to Business Unplugged, a casual networking event held in the evening.

Habitat for Humanity of Lee and Hendry Counties is hosting an online homeownership information meeting over Zoom to explain Habitat’s affordable housing program and outline steps to homeownership. This session will be conducted in English.
