The Fischer Family Foundation, a foundation that supports underprivileged and low-income populations ages 8-25, recently awarded $67,400 in grant funding to support six local nonprofits.
As part of its 2023 grant cycle, the Foundation distributed grants to Boys & Girls Clubs of Lee County, Children’s Advocacy Center of Southwest Florida, Community Cooperative, The Heights Foundation, The Salvation Army of Lee, Hendry and Glades Counties and Youth Haven.
“Our goal is to support organizations that are making a difference for families right here in Southwest Florida, and we are proud to present funding that will have a tremendous impact for six local nonprofits in our community,” said Scott Fischer, who established the Fischer Family Foundation and serves on the board alongside his wife, Mary, and daughter, Katie.
Youth Haven, a nonprofit providing home, hope and healing to abused and neglected children and teens in Southwest Florida, received $20,000 to help provide critical therapy services. Funds will support Youth Haven’s therapeutic programs and its transition program, which prepares teens for adulthood.
The Salvation Army of Lee, Hendry and Glades Counties received $14,400 that will help Southwest Florida children attend Keystone Camp. The grant will cover the costs of 16 local campers to attend a statewide summer camp where children can experience the outdoors while participating in various recreational activities.
Children’s Advocacy Center of Southwest Florida was awarded $10,000 to help fund its Family Alliance therapy program. The outpatient counseling program offers therapeutic treatment for children who have suffered sexual and physical abuse and those who have witnessed or experienced family violence or a violent crime.
Boys & Girls Clubs of Lee County received $10,000 to fund its Summer Enrichment Program, which helps with scholarships for local youth to participate in the program, as well as funding for STEAM projects to promote continued educational opportunities during the summer months.
The Heights Foundation was granted $10,000 to support various activities and school success at The Heights Center, which offers community development and resources to families in the Harlem Heights neighborhood.
Community Cooperative was awarded $3,000 to support its Food Literacy in Pre-school (FLIP) program, which offers students the opportunity to learn about healthy eating habits and outside gardening. The grant funding will allow the program to serve 150 students.
The Fischer Family Foundation supports Southwest Florida youth through a variety of resources that enrich lives, improve mental health and overall well-being. Some of these resources include education, summer camps, intensive overnight wellness and recovery retreats, wilderness programs and substance abuse treatment facilities.
