Better Together hires Michelle Reese as program support specialist

Better Together, a nonprofit dedicated to families and children, has hired Michelle Reese as program support specialist for its North Central Florida region.

In this position, Reese will support the Better Together team in strengthening relationships with local volunteers and community partners to serve families across Marion, Lake and Hernando counties. Reese joins Better Together after nearly two decades of working in education with Marion County Public Schools. Before working in the district, she was the administrative assistant of Munroe Regional Medical Center and later a case manager.

“We are so excited for Michelle to join our team and help us further our mission of strengthening families,” said Megan Rose, CEO of Better Together. “Michelle is not only dedicated to our mission, but to sharing the importance of community with those who need it most. We cannot wait to see how she flourishes in this new role.”

When Reese relocated to Florida from New York, she had no family support system; instead, she had a community of neighbors who embraced her family. When she learned about Better Together, she knew this was a mission that she had lived through herself and firmly believed in.

Better Together helps parents who are going through a hard time to keep their kids out of foster care, find work and address the root causes of their struggle so that they can reunite as a family with the tools and support system to thrive. Established in Southwest Florida eight years ago, the nonprofit’s programming has rapidly expanded to reach families in 24 counties across the state. To date, the program has served 9,000 children and kept 98% of children served through mentoring and hosting out of foster care, while helping nearly 42,000 job seekers find employment through church-based job fairs across 22 states.
