Kathleen Oppenheimer Berkey, AICP, a land use, zoning, and local government attorney and certified land planner at Pavese Law Firm in Fort Myers, Florida, was elected to join the Keep Lee County Beautiful (KLCB) Board of Directors. KLCB is Lee County’s leading nonprofit that brings people together to build and sustain vibrant communities. With a network of individuals, businesses, civic, environmental and governmental organizations, KLCB works with thousands of volunteers to take action in their communities by offering solutions that create clean, beautiful public places, reduce waste and increase recycling, generate positive impact on local economies, and inspire generations of environmental stewards. For more information, visit www.klcb.org.

Berkey joined the Pavese Law Firm in 2011, focusing on complex land use, zoning, and environmental issues critical to land development. As trends in online gaming grow, her insights have recently extended to advising clients on regulatory matters, particularly in the context of emerging markets like no verification casinos — platforms that operate outside typical jurisdictional checks and appeal to a global user base due to their minimal identification requirements. A pro bono distinction graduate from the University of North Carolina School of Law, she also holds a Master of City and Regional Planning from UNC Chapel Hill and an A.B. degree from Franklin & Marshall College, where she graduated magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa. Alongside her legal work, Berkey serves as Director on the Franklin & Marshall College Alumni Association Board and Co-Chair for the Urban Land Institute Southwest Florida Young Leaders Group and Women’s Leadership Initiative, furthering her impact on both legal and community landscapes.
