Advocate Radiation Oncology opens cancer treatment center in Venice

Advocate Radiation Oncology has opened a cancer treatment center in Venice’s Wellen Park, one of America’s top-selling master-planned communities situated in south Sarasota County.

The new state-of-the-art medical office features the same cutting-edge technology and world-class physicians that define the practice. Advocate operates nine cancer treatment centers in southern Florida, including Bradenton to the north of Venice and Port Charlotte to the south. Advocate physicians provide treatments for breast, prostate, lung, head, neck and other types of cancers.

Wellen Park is a thriving upscale residential community in Venice with single-family, multi-family and villa homes, as well as a 55+ community. Downtown Wellen Park is lined with retail shops and restaurants, as well as recreational opportunities and entertainment options. At build-out, Wellen Park will be home to more than 50,000 residents and 22,500 homes.

“The addition of a Venice location means that anyone living on Southwest Florida’s coast, from Collier and Lee to Charlotte, Sarasota and Manatee counties, will have convenient access to our cancer experts equipped with the most powerful treatment technology available,” said Dr. Arie Dosoretz, a board-certified radiation oncologist and managing partner for Advocate Radiation Oncology. “Every cancer patient deserves the highest quality of care close to home and we are privileged to provide our services.”

Advocate, the region’s premier radiation oncology practice, employs an experienced team of compassionate, board-certified radiation oncologists who treat patients using the most precise cancer-fighting machines on the market, including industry-leading Varian technology like the Halcyon, Identify and TrueBeam radiotherapy systems. Advocate offers seven types of treatments: External Beam Radiotherapy, Intensity-Modulated Radiation Therapy, High-dose Rate Brachytherapy, Stereotactic Radiosurgery, Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy, Surface-Guided Radiation Therapy and Deep-Inspiration Breath Hold.

Advocate physicians serving the Venice office include Drs. David Rice and Brian Lawenda, both of whom are board certified through the American Board of Radiology. The treatment center, which shares space with Millennium Physician Group, is located at 8026 S. Tamiami Trail, Suite 101 in Venice, just north of CoolToday Park and State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota’s Venice campus.
