Tim and Demi-Leigh Tebow share stories of faith at Southwest Florida Community Prayer Breakfast

Tim Tebow, two-time national champion, first-round NFL draft pick and Heisman Trophy winner, and wife Demi-Leigh Tebow, former Miss Universe 2017 and founder of the Unbreakable Campaign, shared their stories of faith and a powerful keynote address at the 2024 Southwest Florida Community Prayer Breakfast.

Held May 2 at Hammond Stadium at Lee Health Sports Complex, more than 2,300 people gathered at Hammond Stadium at Lee Health Sports Complex for a morning of prayer for the local community, state, world and country, as well as messages of faith and service to others. To honor the National Day of Prayer, which is recognized on the first Thursday of May, the Tebows joined the Southwest Florida community in unified prayer, continuing the tradition that began in 1988 when the Community Prayer Breakfast was introduced.

Event attendees heard from local pastors and exchanged prayer cards, inviting others to pray for them. Following remarks from his wife, Demi-Leigh Tebow, who shared her personal journey of faith and remarkable story of surviving a carjacking, keynote speaker Tim Tebow challenged attendees to show up and be an answered prayer for others.

“How cool is it that we get to show up for something this morning that is so much more important than a game?” said Tim Tebow. “As much as we love sports and games, that pales in comparison to why we’re here. We hope that today is not just a day where we would show up and pray. It’s a day that we would get to show up and pray to a really big God.”

A highlight of the event was when Devin Cannon, a Cape Coral resident and Tebow Foundation Night to Shine Prom King, escorted Demi-Leigh to the stage. Night to Shine, sponsored by the Tim Tebow Foundation, provides people with special needs with an unforgettable prom experience.

“Each year, this morning is an opportunity for people to come together to thank God for all that he’s done for our nation, community and families,” said Ron Inge, president of the Southwest Florida Community Prayer Breakfast. “The National Day of Prayer is truly a time of celebration, giving thanks to God and uniting our local Southwest Florida community.”

Southwest Florida Community Prayer Breakfast, Inc. was founded to guarantee that the prayer breakfast continues to be celebrated annually, thanks to the generous support of local businesses, organizations, individuals and foundations.
