School District of Lee County to host Future Teacher Recruitment Fair May 5

District seeking educators for the 2017-18 school year

The School District of Lee County is hosting its Future Teacher Recruitment Fair on Friday, May 5 at the Lee County Public Education Center, 2855 Colonial Blvd. in Fort Myers. The event will include sessions from 9 to 11 a.m. for elementary, K-8 and special centers opportunities, and 1 to 3 p.m. for K-8, middle and high school opportunities. This event is by invitation only. Those interested in receiving an invitation to the fair can register on the School District of Lee County website at www.leeschools.net/teacher-recruitment-fair. Registration must be completed by April 26. All eligible candidates will receive an email invitation to attend the event by May 1.

The District is currently hiring to fill a range of teaching positions, including elementary, middle and high school teachers, special education, science and mathematics teachers, and reading and language arts teachers. Representatives from all Lee County schools will be in attendance to conduct interviews. Several schools will be hiring teachers for the upcoming 2017-18 school year.

Candidates are asked to come prepared with a supply of resumes, copies of letters of reference, copies of teaching certificate or statement of eligibility, and a general idea of preferred schools. Eligible candidates should send transcripts, a valid teaching certificate and the instructional document submission form to the School District of Lee County Human Resources Department in advance of the event or deliver documents to the information station at the recruitment fair. Candidates with out-of-state teaching certificates are encouraged to apply for a Florida teaching certification prior to attending the fair.

Necessary qualifications include a bachelor’s degree or higher, valid Florida teacher certification covering appropriate area of responsibility, demonstrated proficiency in oral and written communication, demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups and experience with industry-standard computer applications.

The starting compensation package of $52,984 encompasses salary, medical coverage and life insurance, pension and investment plan contributions, and social security and Medicare employer contributions. Relocation bonuses are also available to assist with moving to the area.
