Ryan Carter of Scotlynn USA joins Community Cooperative’s board of directors

Ryan Carter has joined the board of directors of Community Cooperative. Carter is executive vice president and co-founder of Scotlynn USA Division Inc., a logistics and transportation company headquartered in Canada that specializes in hauling refrigerated produce.

“We are excited to welcome Ryan to our board,” said Community Cooperative Board Chairman Keith Banasiak. “His expertise in growing a transportation company for perishable items aligns with our mission of getting food to people who need it in our community. In addition to lending his expertise, I believe we will greatly benefit from his passion for serving our mission and the Southwest Florida community.”

Carter was named 2020 Small Business Person of the Year in Florida by the U.S. Small Business Administration. The graduate of the University of Kentucky with a degree in economics was also named Distinguished Entrepreneur of the Year for Southwest Florida in 2019 by the Small Business Development Council at Florida Gulf Coast University.

Scotlynn USA is on the Inc. 5000 list of America’s fastest-growing companies at No. 2,462 and No. 92 in Florida. It currently operates four offices, including Tampa and Indianapolis, with about 275 employees. A new 60,000-square-foot North American corporate headquarters is planned in Fort Myers that will include a fitness center, basketball court and indoor and outdoor recreational space for staff.

With a dedicated team of volunteers, board of directors and staff, Community Cooperative stays committed to its core responsibility to eliminate hunger and homelessness in Lee County by collecting and distributing resources through a strong and viable network of community partners.

The Community Cooperative board also includes Keith Banasiak, chairman; Charlotte Miller, vice chairwoman; Ryan Van Horn, secretary/treasurer; Wayne Kirkwood, immediate past chairman; Betsy Alderman; Joe Catti; Cathy Devine; Jordi Tejero and Ty Roland.
