Greater Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce to review proposed amendments to Florida’s constitution at its Oct. 18 luncheon

Attendees of October’s General Membership Meeting of the Greater Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce will be treated to a non-partisan discussion of constitutional amendments on the November ballot.

Chris Lopez, director of public policy for the Royal Palm Coast Realtor Association, will offer a comprehensive overview of 12 proposed amendments and revisions to the Florida Constitution that voters will decide in the general election. The highly publicized amendments include increasing the homestead property tax exemption, giving voters the exclusive right to authorize casino gambling, prohibiting offshore drilling and indoor vaping, creating rights for victims of crimes and phasing out dog racing.

The October luncheon is scheduled from 11:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 18 at Cross Creek Country Club, 13050 Cross Creek Blvd. in Fort Myers.

Lopez, also co-chair of the Chamber’s Leadership NEXT committee, graduated from Florida State University with a degree in political science and earned a juris doctor from Florida A&M University’s College of Law. Copies of sample ballots will be available for attendees to review.
