Child Care of Southwest Florida has appointed Yadira Lorenzo as director for The Children’s Garden, a high-quality early learning center in Labelle.
Lorenzo has worked in early childhood education since 2009, including the last nine years with Child Care of Southwest Florida as a HeadStart teacher at Harlem Academy Child Care Center in Clewiston and Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten (VPK) teacher at The Children’s Garden before being promoted to center director.
The Children’s Garden serves more than 50 students from 2 months to 4 years old, focusing on the development of physical, social, emotional and intellectual growth. The center employs 14 staff members.
Lorenzo promotes self-esteem and independence to help children become healthy members of the community, and she has experience educating children of all ages, including youth with special needs.
“We like to say that all children are like little seeds, and as teachers we need to water them so they can grow and be successful as they advance in school,” Lorenzo said. “It’s so important that all children have access to high-quality child care so they can be prepared for school. Kindergarten is too late to start learning.”
The Children’s Garden has a five-star rating through the Early Learning Coalition of Southwest Florida. It also is accredited through the National Accreditation Commission for Early Learning Leaders and is recognized as a Gold Seal Quality Care Program through the Florida Department of Children and Families.
Lorenzo received an Associate of Arts degree and an Associate of Science degree in early childhood education from Palm Beach State College.
