Charity for Change receives $15,000 grant from Spring Run Charitable Foundation

Charity for Change has been awarded a $15,000 grant to support its efforts to provide fundamental character education and community engagement programs to local students by the Spring Run Charitable Foundation, made up of residents of Spring Run at the Brooks in Bonita Springs.

This year, the Spring Run Foundation raised $198,000 to distribute to 10 health and children’s charities in Lee and Collier counties from a Home Tour, Cash Raffle, Golf Outing, Silent and Live Auctions, and the generous cash donations by Spring Run residents.

“Charity for Change is inspiring children to live compassionately, give through charity and be contributing members of our community through afterschool, summer school, preschool and in-school programs,” said Karen Conley, founder and CEO of Charity for Change. “The donations we receive will help us provide an evidence-based, interactive math and literacy curriculum that weaves in 19 character traits including respect, integrity, cooperation and tolerance, values that children need now, more than ever.”

When the Spring Run Foundation learned about Charity for Change earlier this year, Foundation President Jack Chadwick said he asked the board to make an immediate donation, which the foundation added to with the grant for a total donation to Charity for Change this year of $20,000.

“When we started 11 years ago, we were very involved with different charity organizations,” Chadwick said. “Through the years, we’ve started to realize that charities involved with the young people were so important in Southwest Florida.”
