Vibe Yoga hosts Yoga and Better Sleep workshop March 13

In recognition of the Daylight Savings Time change and World Sleep Day, Vibe Yoga is offering a Yoga and Better Sleep Workshop March 13 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at the studio in Fort Myers.

The 90-minute workshop will include techniques of Yoga Nidra, meditation and breathwork designed to enhance and improve the quality of sleep. Yoga Nidra focuses on breathing and restorative poses for deep full-body relaxation. Meditation can increase serotonin and melatonin, reduce heart rate and blood pressure, and activate parts of the brain that control sleep.

“With the time change, we lose an hour of sleep, which can cause sleep deprivation and sleepiness in some people that can linger for days to weeks,” said Lindsay Smith, founder of Vibe Yoga. “Lack of sleep or poor-quality sleep has a significant negative impact on our health, as well as our attention span, memory and learning.”

The class is $20 per participant and free for veterans and first responders. Class size is limited. To register, visit VibeYogaSWFL.com.
