Three Ways to Support Golisano Children’s Hospital 

Client Events in August 2023 - 2023 Ace Hardware Bucket Days - Lily BakerIn August, three national companies with locations in Southwest Florida are participating in collections to enhance pediatric care at Golisano Children’s Hospital through Children’s Miracle Network. You can help provide world-class care to children in our community by participating in these three fundraisers in August: 

  • Aug. 4-6: Ace Hardware Bucket Days – Purchase a special “miracle bucket” for $5 at area Ace Hardware retail stores and receive 20% off nearly everything that fits inside. 
  • Aug. 8: Panda Cares Day – Panda Express restaurants will be donating 25% of revenue from online and mobile app orders for customers who use the code PCD2023 at checkout. 
  • Aug. 26-Sept. 30: Love’s Travel Stop Balloon Campaign – Patrons at any Love’s Travel Stop can round up their purchases at the register or make a cash or credit card donation to receive a paper balloon.

Cape Coral’s premier continuing care retirement community is unveiling its Top 10 Best Things about Gulf Coast Village during a luncheon and informational seminar to showcase a taste of the lifestyle to prospective residents, their families and caregivers.

Aug. 2 
Women in Business, a committee of the Greater Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce, is partnering with Harmon Photographers to provide opportunities for members to update their professional headshots at a discounted rate during a networking session at Hodges University. Light refreshments will be served and guests are encouraged to bring business cards.

Aug. 4 
Avow Veterans Committee is hosting a free event for Purple Heart Appreciation Day to pay tribute to local Purple Heart Veterans and their families and recognize Veterans with a commemorative pin. The event is one of many held throughout the year to support and recognize Veterans.

Aug. 8 
The Greater Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce’s August luncheon will be held at Plantation Golf & Country Club and feature a panel discussion about the use of AI technology.

Avow is inviting the bereaved to join its supportive care team in a virtual Remembering Memorial Service to share a safe space to pause, reflect and celebrate the love and lives of those who have died. The livestream features poems, moments of reflection and uplifting music.

Kids’ Minds Matter is hosting a virtual Youth Mental Health First Aid class that teaches participants how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illness and substance use disorders in youth. The course is intended for adults who work with children, adolescents and teens.

The School District of Lee County is opening the 2023-24 school year for an estimated 95,000 students. Area residents are advised to use caution and exercise patience while driving near schools, bus stops and residential communities.

The Fort Myers Mighty Mussels are offering free tickets at the box office for all students 16 and under as part of Back to School Night at Hammond Stadium. There also will be a postgame fireworks show with pyrotechnics launching just beyond the right field fence.

Habitat for Humanity of Lee and Hendry Counties is hosting an online homeownership information meeting over Zoom to explain Habitat’s affordable housing program and outline steps to homeownership. This session will be conducted in Spanish.

The Landings Yacht, Golf and Tennis Club is hosting Designer Purse Bingo to benefit the Lee Health Cancer Institute. Featured pursues include designer brands like Brahmin, Michael Kors, Coach, Dooney & Bourke, Kate Spade and more.

Residents at Gulf Coast Village are hosting a luncheon and panel discussion for prospective residents, their families and caregivers that outlines the benefits of living in Cape Coral’s premier continuing care retirement community.

The Jewish Federation of Greater Naples’ 2023 Summer Book Discussion continues with Rachel Barenbaum, author of Atomic Anna. Participants are encouraged to read the book in advance and ask questions during the one-hour event.
