The School District of Lee County to host Spring Teacher Recruitment Fair on April 13 in Fort Myers

Prospective teachers are invited to register to attend The School District of Lee County’s Spring Teacher Recruitment Fair on April 13 in Fort Myers.

Principals and assistant principals, along with members of the District’s human resources team, will be conducting interviews with candidates seeking full-time teaching employment for the 2019-20 academic year. Teaching positions are available at the elementary, middle and high school levels, with a focus on hiring special education, elementary education, school counselors, science, mathematics, reading and language arts instructors. The Teacher Recruitment Fair will be held from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, April 13 at the Lee County Public Education Center, 2855 Colonial Blvd. in Fort Myers by invitation only. Teachers currently employed by the District and who were invited to the event can visit from 9 a.m. to noon. All prospective candidates must pre-register online by March 29 at LeeSchools.net/RecruitmentFair. Eligible applicants will receive a formal invitation by email no later than April 5.

Candidates are expected to dress professionally and bring printed copies of their resume. Offers of employment will be extended at the recruitment fair, so attendees must also meet one of three criteria:

  • Hold a valid standard teaching certificate (Florida or out-of-state)
  • Expected to graduate from a college of education by August 2019
  • Hold a bachelor’s degree in an area where certification can be obtained

The School District of Lee County’s efforts to put “The Right Talent in the Right Place” means that new teachers will receive the support and necessary resources that will enable them to succeed upon entering the field of education. The District offers a competitive and comprehensive compensation plan for its employees, and the starting compensation package of $52,984 for teachers encompasses salary, medical coverage and life insurance, pension and investment plan contributions, and social security and Medicare employer contributions. Additional benefits and earning opportunities are also available via advanced degree supplement, summer school, athletic coaching and more. Upon hire, a personal benefits selection process will be made available to eligible employees.
