Funding is Part of a $2.7 Million Commitment to Support Critical Child Health and Hunger Needs
With the holidays upon us, the Joy in Childhood Foundation is making a special gift to address critical child health and hunger needs in Southwest Florida. The Joy in Childhood Foundation, the charitable foundation supported by Dunkin’ Donuts and Baskin-Robbins, has today announced that it will distribute more than $17,000 in funding to three organizations in Southwest Florida. These grants are just a few of the nearly 200 grants being distributed to non-profit organizations in local communities across the country that address children’s health and hunger needs. In Southwest Florida, these organizations include:
- Harry Chapin Food Bank of Southwest Florida, receiving $5,000 grant
- Lee Health Foundation, receiving $10,000 grant
- NCH Healthcare System, receiving $2,250 grant
The funding from the Joy in Childhood Foundation is part of a $2.7 million commitment to bring joy to sick and hungry kids nationwide during the holiday season.
“The Joy in Childhood Foundation brings joy to kids year-round, but to have an opportunity to bring joy to kids facing hunger and health issues in local communities, including Southwest Florida, during the holiday season is very special to us,” said Karen Raskopf, Co-Chair, Joy in Childhood Foundation. “We know that this time of year can be difficult for them and it’s also an especially busy time for the food banks and health organizations they rely on. Our grants to these organizations will help ensure that children in Southwest Florida who are facing hunger and health issues can experience the joy of the holidays – just like any other child – without having adult-like worries, such as where their next meal will come from.”
The grants from the Joy in Childhood Foundation will support programs that are in high demand during the holiday season, such as the Fulfill Mobile Food Pantry program provided by Harry Chapin Food Bank of Southwest Florida, Lee Health Foundations’ gaming at Golisano Children’s Hospital program and the 95210 Kids on the Go! program provided by NCH Healthcare System.
