Sunshine Ace Hardware stores on Florida’s west coast collected more than $32,000 during a spring fundraising campaign to support Children’s Miracle Network.
Through its monthlong “Round Up for the Kids” campaign in April, customers rounded up their purchases to help provide life-changing medical care to children across the region. Donations collected at Sunshine Ace stores in Collier, Lee and Charlotte counties support Golisano Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida, while donations raised at stores in Manatee and Pinellas counties support Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg.
“Our company has supported Children’s Miracle Network for many years, but when we designated the nonprofit as our ‘primary charity partner’ in 2020, our customers have really gotten behind this initiative,” said Sunshine Ace President Michael Wynn. “Children’s Miracle Network provides access to high-quality medical care for thousands of children across the region, and the generosity of our customers and associates is truly making a difference in the lives of children and their families.”
Sunshine Ace’s store in downtown Naples ranked No. 14 in the U.S. in total donations during April, when 1,475 Ace stores nationwide raised a collective $1.8 million to support Children’s Miracle Network hospitals.
Every year, more than 10 million children across North America visit Children’s Miracle Network hospitals, which rely on donations and community support because Medicaid and health insurance programs do not fully cover the cost of care. Children’s Miracle Network raises funds to support common childhood afflictions like asthma and broken bones, as well as fight challenges like birth defects and cancer.
In 2020, the Ace Hardware Foundation raised a record $17.9 million nationwide to support Children’s Miracle Network, of which $11 million was raised through in-store campaigns. Since establishing a partnership three decades ago, Ace Hardware has raised more than $140 million for Children’s Miracle Network hospitals.
“We love our Sunshine Ace partnership,” said Toni Primeaux, director of development for Children’s Miracle Network at Golisano Children’s Hospital. “It’s more than just fundraising. It’s the annual toy drive during the holidays, and gift bags and goodies for our patients. It’s a passion to help our sick kids.”
