Sunshine Ace Hardware is launching a new summer campaign to raise money for Children’s Miracle Network hospitals that provide medical care for youth along Florida’s west coast.
From July 1 to 31, customers at Sunshine Ace stores can make donations at the register to support Children’s Miracle Network. Then from July 31 to Aug. 2, customers who donate $5 through the Blue Bucket Days campaign will receive a limited-edition, 5-gallon Ace Hardware bucket, and nearly everything that fits inside the bucket will be discounted by 20%.
The summer campaign is Sunshine Ace’s third fundraising initiative for Children’s Miracle Network so far in 2020. This spring, customers donated more than $25,000 through the “Round Up for the Kids” charitable campaign, which followed a $1,200 contribution from proceeds collected at the fifth annual Reel in the Sunshine fishing expo held in February.
“When Sunshine Ace Hardware designated Children’s Miracle Network as its primary charity partner, we began developing a series of fundraising campaigns that would extend throughout the year,” said Michael Wynn, president of Sunshine Ace Hardware. “Our customers, associates and store managers immediately got behind these initiatives because they want to support the incredible work being done to help local children receive the high-quality medical care that will help them get better.”
Sunshine Ace operates stores in Marco Island, Naples, Golden Gate, Bonita Springs, San Carlos Park, Port Charlotte and Largo, as well as two Crowder Bros. Ace stores in Bradenton. Donations raised at stores in Collier, Lee and Charlotte counties will support Golisano Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida in Fort Myers, while donations at stores in Manatee and Pinellas counties will support Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg.
“Golisano Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida is able to provide care close to home for our patients and their families thanks to incredibly generous and engaged partners like Sunshine Ace Hardware,” said Toni Primeaux, director of development for Children’s Miracle Network for Golisano Children’s Hospital. “Their ‘Blue Bucket’ campaign will help fund areas of critical need this summer. This year, the need is greater than ever as several programs have been put on hold or canceled due to the current coronavirus pandemic. Children’s health care and our need for resources, however, doesn’t stop. Kids still get sick, accidents still happen and babies still need intensive care. We are grateful to Sunshine Ace Hardware for keeping our kids front and center year round.”
“We have been fortunate to have the support of Ace Hardware retailers in our community since 1991 and are grateful these locations continue to support Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital and Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals through the Ace Hardware Bucket Campaign,” said Waleska Lozada, corporate engagement gift officer for Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital. “Donations from Sunshine Ace Hardware, Crowder Bros. and their generous customers will be invested into the programs and services that make an impact on the health of sick and injured patients treated at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital.”
