Spring Cleaning: Cypress Pharmacy encourages families to dispose of old medications in recognition of “National Clean Out Your Medicine Cabinet Day” March 20

Throughout March, local pharmacy offers proper disposals, giveaways in exchange for old medications

Cypress Pharmacy, an independent, locally owned community pharmacy, is encouraging families to properly dispose of unused or expired medications throughout March in recognition of “National Clean Out Your Medicine Cabinet Day” on March 20. The local pharmacy will offer the choice of a pill box, koozie, jar opener or stadium cup in exchange for leftover medications, which will be properly disposed of for the patient.

In addition, those who drop off unused or old medications to Cypress Pharmacy will be entered to win the pharmacy’s monthly giveaway, featuring a bottle of its specially formulated CollaSkin Plus, a unique blend of collagen peptides and supportive nutrients to help support and restore the skin, as well as a bottle of Nature’s Truth “Happiness” essential oil, a unique blend of sweet and fruity essential oils to be used in a diffuser or in its natural form.

To assist families throughout the year with safely cleaning their cabinets of unused and expired medications, Cypress Pharmacy offers a medication disposal program. During the special March promotion, or throughout the year, patients can simply drop off medication, excluding aerosols, needles or syringes, into the secure MedSafe disposal box located in the back of the store, and Cypress Pharmacy will properly dispose of it.

“It is important that patients monitor their medications and properly dispose of any old or unused pills, as it can become a safety hazard for children and adults,” said T.J. DePaola, pharmacist-in-charge and president of Cypress Pharmacy. “Taking an expired pill can be harmful, and could land you in the hospital, which is why it is important to regularly clean out your medicine cabinet. Cypress Pharmacy offers a year-round program dedicated to helping families safely remove old or expired medications from their home, and what better time to highlight this service and encourage families to do a necessary check than around ‘National Clean Out Your Medicine Cabinet Day’!”
