Spire Construction has completed sitework and commenced building construction for The Union at Auburn, a new student housing development that will be positioned less than one mile from the Auburn University campus.
The successful completion of sitework marks a significant milestone in the development process, particularly regarding excavation and cleaning efforts. Effective excavation is critical for preparing the land, ensuring the site is level and stable to support the new structure. This involves removing unwanted debris and excavating to the necessary depth for foundations, which lays the groundwork for a strong and durable building. The cleaning process that follows is equally essential, as it helps maintain a safe and organized site, minimizing the risk of accidents and ensuring compliance with construction standards.
In addition to excavation, efficient land management is crucial for any construction project. Services like Land Clearing in Tacoma can streamline the process, enabling developers to focus on the construction phase without the hassle of navigating through overgrown vegetation or debris. Proper land clearing not only enhances the aesthetics of the site but also optimizes the functionality of the area, allowing for better drainage and soil health. With meticulous attention to these aspects, Spire Construction is set to create a robust foundation for The Union at Auburn, ensuring its longevity and appeal to future residents.
The Union at Auburn will be a five-story, purpose-built student housing project that will accommodate up to 500 Auburn University students. The planned 140 units are currently the largest-sized units on the market, with one-, two-, four-, five- and six-bedroom living options available, all with a private bath.
The development will feature over 21,000 square feet of world-class amenities, including a coffeehouse-atmosphere clubhouse, 20 community study rooms, a two-story fitness center, weekly yoga classes and two courtyard areas with a 3,000-square-foot swimming pool, putting green, fireplace and grills. Covered parking will be offered along three sides of the U-shaped building.
Located at 900 W. Glenn Ave. in Auburn, Alabama, at the corner of West Glenn Avenue and Hemlock Drive, The Union at Auburn is within walking distance to the Auburn University campus and downtown Auburn. The development is also positioned along the university’s Tiger Transit bus route.
Fort Myers-based Spire Construction is the general contractor for the $47.8 million project, which was awarded by project owner WFI AUB, LLC.
Spire Construction’s team for the project is led by Travis Ritz, project manager, and Brandon Hobson, superintendent. Gary B. Coursey & Associates is the architect and civil engineer for the project.
The Union at Auburn is slated for completion in fall 2020.
