Southwest Florida businesses and individuals can help provide local families with a full Thanksgiving meal by checking off one item on K-9 Deputy Chance’s Holiday Wish List.
Through Nov. 18, shoppers at Fresh Market in Bell Tower can purchase a Thanksgiving meal kit at the register to help area families in need this holiday season. The meals include fully cooked turkeys and hams, potatoes, stuffing, dinner rolls and additional side dishes.
Chance’s Holiday Wish List helps generate support and awareness for local charitable causes, including the Thanksgiving meal donations. Chance is a rescue dog who serves as the official “spokesdog” for Deputy Dogs – Pets on Patrol, a new volunteer program of the Lee County Sheriff’s Office asking pet owners to be law enforcement’s eyes and ears in the streets while walking their dogs.
Two options are available: $59.99 for the Essential Holiday Meal (serves 3-5) and $79.99 for the Traditional Holiday Dinner (serves 8-10). Donations also are being accepted online at LeadingLatinaSWFL.com/chances-holiday-wish.
“Thanksgiving is just another day for many families in our community because they don’t have the means to prepare a traditional Thanksgiving meal,” said Shannon Palzer, marketing manager for Bell Tower. “In addition to individual Fresh Market shoppers, we welcome local businesses to step forward to sponsor meals, or employees can pass the hat around the office to collect enough donations to purchase a meal kit.”
The initiative is the result of a partnership between Bell Tower, Fresh Market, Leading Latina, Lee County Sheriff’s Office, Liv Digital Marketing and United Way of Lee, Hendry, Glades and Okeechobee Counties.
United Way, which recently held a grand opening for its new Community Impact Center at Bell Tower, will identify area families in need of assistance and provide them with Thanksgiving meals. Chance is a frequent visitor to the pet-friendly Bell Tower, where the Sheriff’s Office just celebrated the opening of its new Community Outreach Center.
