Shell Point’s 2018-2019 Fine and Performing Arts Series welcomes Vienna Boys Choir Feb. 26

Shell Point Retirement Community continues the Performing Arts program of its 2018-2019 Fine and Performing Arts Series with a performance by Vienna Boys Choir, taking place at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 26 at The Village Church auditorium on The Island at Shell Point, 15100 Shell Point Blvd. in Fort Myers. Tickets for this event cost $40 and can be purchased online at www.shellpoint.org/concerts or by phone at 239-454-2067.

The Vienna Boys Choir presents a group of 25 singers between the ages of 10 and 14, performing a range of medieval, contemporary and experimental music. Motets and lieder form the core of this repertoire, along with the choir’s own arrangements of quintessentially Viennese music, including waltzes and polkas by Lanner, Lehár and Strauss.

With roots dating back five centuries and members hailing from dozens of nations, the Vienna Boys Choir is comprised of 100 choristers, divided into four touring choirs. The groups spend nine to 11 weeks on tour, performing annually for almost half a million people in Europe, Asia, Australia and the Americas.
