Shell Point’s 2017-2018 Concert Series welcomes Southwest Florida Symphony’s “For the Love of Beethoven” Jan. 11

Shell Point Retirement Community’s 2017-2018 Concert Series welcomes Southwest Florida Symphony to the stage for a “For the Love of Beethoven” concert performance, beginning at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 11 at the Village Church on The Island at Shell Point. The event is open to the public, with tickets available for purchase online at www.shellpoint.org/concerts or by phone at 239-454-2067.

Maestro Nir Kabaretti leads the Southwest Florida Symphony Orchestra in a performance that focuses exclusively on Beethoven’s compositions. The program represents both a youthful and almost naïve Beethoven and his later turbulent struggles with ill health, with the “Overture to Coriolan, Symphony No. 1” and the “Piano Concerto No. 5 in E♭, Op. 73.”

During the performance, the audience will enjoy clear musical references to Beethoven’s predecessors in “Symphony No. 1,” particularly his teachers Joseph Haydn and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. “Piano Concerto No. 5” is popularly known as the “Emperor Concerto,” and was Beethoven’s last piano concerto.

The Symphony will be joined by Peruvian-born pianist Priscilla Navarro for this performance. At Florida Gulf Coast University, she received the Steinway Piano Society, Gomez, and Williams scholarships. Since then, Priscilla has performed across the United States, South America, Italy and Poland.
