Priority Marketing Founder, President and Chief Creative Officer Teri Hansen, APR, has inspired marketing professionals for decades, and she recently had an opportunity to inspire Southwest Florida women across industries and generations.

Teri joined a trio of other inspirational leaders – Diana Willis, Kelly Fayer and Tessa LeSage – on the Greater Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce’s “Women In Business: Pathway to APEX” panel in early March. Each of the four women are previously winners of the prestigious APEX Award, which recognizes and honors local women with outstanding reputations for professionalism, philanthropy and leadership. Teri won the award in 2018.

Panelists shared their insights into leadership, success and other topics, inspiring audience members to pursue their passions in whatever field they’re in.

“Nothing can hold you back, but you’ve got to have the passion, you’ve got to have the drive, you’ve got to be trustworthy,” Teri said. “Nothing is going to be handed to you.”

Other topics Teri covered included:

  • Women’s abilities to be strong leaders in the workplace: “A lot of people think that you can’t be a successful mom and a successful business owner, leader or executive. I am an example of and believe strongly that women can do both very well and be successful if you’re in the right environment and have the right support structure with your job.”
  • Balancing roles as a careerwoman and a mother: “It is about being present where you are when you’re there.”
  • Standing out in the workplace: (1) “Be passionate about what you’re doing; (2) “Be the one that is courageous, that volunteers. Forget about the job description.”
  • Continuously learning throughout your career: “Learn, learn, learn. The more you learn, the more you grow. The more you grow, the more you stand out.”

The Chamber event also included a networking opportunity for attendees to build professional connections, as well a chance to support the Women In Business scholarship fund that helps students achieve their educational and career goals.
