Seminar on Florida domicile and home insurance costs to be held Nov. 15

The Sanibel Captiva Trust Company is hosting a program offering the pros and cons of claiming Florida as your domicile, estate planning tips to protect your assets and homestead, along with a discussion on the rising costs of homeowners insurance.

The upcoming seminar with financial and insurance experts begins at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 15 at DeRomo’s Restaurant – The Promenade, 16851 South Bay Drive, Bonita Springs.

The session will include topics about domicile vs. residency (there is a difference) as well as keeping your domicile when displaced by a hurricane. Brian Chapman, owner of Chapman Insurance Group, will offer his expert insights into the ongoing insurance crisis including rising homeowners’ insurance costs, predictions for the future of insurance costs and how to lower insurance costs.

Speakers for this seminar include:

  • Brian Chapman, Jr., CLU – Agent/Owner at Chapman Insurance Group
  • Megan Marquardt, CFP, CTFA – President at The Sanibel Captiva Trust Company, Bell Tower Office
  • Carolyn Rogers, CFRE – Senior Vice President of Wealth Services at The Sanibel Captiva Trust Company

“Many new Florida homeowners don’t realize that Florida residency is not Florida domicile,” said Megan Marquardt, President, The Sanibel Captiva Trust Company, Bell Tower Office. “Florida domicile can safeguard your family’s financial future through favorable tax advantages, asset protection, and a legacy of prosperity. So, we highly encourage anyone new to the state or planning to move here to attend a domicile session to learn more.”

Seating is limited, and reservations are required. Seminars are intended for individuals with $2 million in investible assets and higher. Contact Frances Steger at fsteger@sancaptrustco.com or call 239-472-8300.
