R.D. Johnson Construction, Inc. has started construction of a new, 3,700-square-foot physical therapy building at Cypress Cove at HealthPark, a Continuing Care Retirement Community located in South Fort Myers. The new building will include a new exterior entrance and vestibule that is connected to The Lodge at Cypress Cove, the community’s 64-room skilled nursing center.
In addition, the project will included connecting the new building to the generator that serves The Lodge, and also includes repaving of the parking lot serving both the new and existing buildings. Physical therapy spaces will include open areas for equipment, storage, treatment areas, a private treatment room and speech therapy, and a director’s office. A fully functioning training kitchen will have working appliances and a bathroom setting will simulate the home environment, allowing physical therapists to work with patients to master life skills in a realistic, home-like environment.
R.D. Johnson’s Matthew Johnson is the project manager and Michael Wood is job superintendent. The architect is SFCS, Inc. of Roanoke, Virginia. The project is expected to be completed in September 2016.
