Pure Florida presents Marine Science Kids Cruise Jan. 7

Kids cruise free with purchase of adult admission

Pure Florida’s Fort Myers location will offer a Marine Science Kids Cruise on Saturday, Jan. 7 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. The Marine Science Kids Cruises are free to children with paid adult admission as part of Pure Florida’s Kids Cruise Free Saturdays at 10 a.m. program.

Children will cruise along the Caloosahatchee aboard the M/V Edison Explorer, collect water and perform water quality experiments to test the levels of nitrates, phosphates, ammonia, pH and salinity. Pure Florida’s Pure Education team will work alongside students as they record their results and explain the importance of each element in its relation to the health of the waterways and the marine wildlife that inhabit Southwest Florida estuaries and rely on healthy water. The Marine Science Kids Cruise is an excellent way for children passionate about science to get a hands-on experience right in their environment. Kids become environmental engineers and learn best practices for clean water preservation. Children and their families can enjoy sightseeing along the Caloosahatchee River at the conclusion of the science portion of the cruise. While Pure Florida cannot guarantee animal sightings in the wild, potential wildlife sightings include dolphins, eagles, manatee, native birds and more.

Reservations can be made by contacting the Fort Myers reservation office at 239-919-2965. Admission is $32 for adults with free child admission with every paid adult. Additional child admission is $16. The M/V Edison Explorer departs from The Marina at Edison Ford, located at 2360 W. First St. in Fort Myers.
