‘Hunger Action Center’ under development in SWFL
Harry Chapin Food Bank unveiled plans to relieve Southwest Florida’s deepening hunger crisis by building a massive 110,175-square-foot warehouse and distribution facility in Fort Myers. The first-of-its-kind Hunger Action Center will expand the organization’s capacity and safeguard the community against hunger for generations to come. During a groundbreaking event, the nonprofit also announced a $30 million capital campaign, Feeding the Future, to help fund the initiative.

Kingston community to blend environmental restoration with luxury living
Construction at Kingston – one of the largest master-planned developments ever conceived in Southwest Florida – is officially underway after project partners, elected officials and community leaders gathered for a groundbreaking celebration. Developed by Cameratta Companies, Kingston will span almost 7,000 acres in Estero and feature approximately 10,000 residences and 700,000 square feet of commercial space. Premier builders include Lennar Homes, Neal Communities, Pulte Homes, Taylor Morrison and Kolter Homes.

Wonder Gardens earns state support to build new event center
Wonder Gardens was awarded $1.3 million through Florida’s State Funds Appropriation to build a new event center, which will serve as a vital space for private events and educational programs, including classes, summer camps and field trips. The event center will feature an onsite kitchen area, public restrooms for guests, an entry point to an adjacent aviary and an outdoor deck overlooking the Imperial River and Riverside Park.

Now, Vujicic is founder, president and CEO of NickV Ministries, a nonprofit on mission to spread the Gospel.

Southwest Florida Housing Foundation celebrates ribbon-cutting for Latimer Crossing
The Housing Authority of the City of Fort Myers’ nonprofit development arm, Southwest Florida Housing Foundation, celebrated the grand opening of Latimer Crossing, a four-building, 92-unit mixed-income community with a gym, outdoor recreation and spaces designed to bring neighbors together. A major milestone in completing Phase I of The Greater Dunbar Initiative, which aims to tie together market preferences, resident needs and community reinvestment to transform the community into an equitable, desirable and proud neighborhood.

Fort Myers to welcome first school in the world with curriculum blend
Nova Classical STEM Academy is now accepting applications for its inaugural 2026–27 school year, when it will make history as the first school in the world to fully integrate a Classical education framework with a STEM-enriched, project-based learning model within a tuition-free public charter school environment. In its first year, Nova will enroll students in grades K–7 and will expand annually to serve grades K–12.
