NAMI Collier’s annual walk to raise community awareness of mental health is returning to the Arthrex campus – with a lighted stroll scheduled as the sun sets.
The 23rd annual Hope Shines Walk takes place on Friday, April 25, at 1 Arthrex Way. Registration begins at 6 p.m., followed by family-friendly activities led by Arthrex and the one-mile walk on its corporate campus from starting at 6:30 p.m. Live entertainment from the Back Country Boys will conclude the three-hour event, which will also feature multiple food trucks.
“We are thrilled to bring our Hope Shines Walk back to Arthrex after a successful 2024 effort that drew nearly 250 participants while raising over $40,000,” said Beth Hatch, NAMI Collier CEO. “With a growing population, our services are more vital than ever – and community support even more essential as NAMI Collier continues to expand programs and services to meet these needs.”
Individual event registration is $35; teams are both welcomed and encouraged, with prizes awarded for the most creatively dressed, largest and highest fundraising teams. To register for the event or learn about sponsorship opportunities, visit https://namicollier.salsalabs.org/2025Walk/index.html.
Event proceeds support NAMI’s Children’s Mental Health Program, also known as Health Under Guided Systems (HUGS), which screens, assesses and educates individuals ages 2 months to 22 years old experiencing developmental, social, emotional or behavioral difficulties.
The program provided care coordination to nearly 1,000 children in 2023-24, with more than 600 home visits with intensive support for the child and family and 2,000 yearly mental health screenings and early intervention services with no-cost/no-wait list evaluations and diagnosis by NAMI’s child psychologist.
The event also helps support the Sarah Ann Life Skills & Support Program, serving young adults, adults, veterans and seniors, and includes structured activities, life skills, self-help, occupational training, food and nutrition, creative arts and mental wellness programs offered at no cost to the community – programs that help avoid isolation and promote independence and resilience.
That program attracts 25-40 participants daily while also generating nearly 100 supportive employment jobs in the most recent year.
