NAMI Collier receives $20,000 from Suncoast Credit Union

NAMI Collier is pleased to announce a generous $20,000 donation from Suncoast Credit Union to support local COVID-19 response efforts in the community.

NAMI Collier will use the funds to continue mental health support groups that are always free to the community. Offerings include Peer-to-Peer, which gives adults living with mental health conditions a better understanding of their condition and hope for recovery; Family-to-Family, which helps loved ones of those with a mental health condition significantly improve their problem solving and coping abilities; as well as many additional support groups in multiple formats.

“Since the pandemic, the requests for our assistance have multiplied exponentially,” said Pamela Baker, executive director of NAMI Collier. “This money will go a long way in helping us to further meet the mental health needs of our community.”

The donation from Suncoast Credit Union is part of a $550,000 donation to support hunger and mental health organizations throughout Florida that have seen increased needs due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“COVID-19 has created serious implications in mental health throughout our nation, with research showing significant impact on individuals and relationships, said Suncoast Credit Union President and CEO Kevin Johnson. “We feel a moral obligation to support the efforts of those who are working to help others. This year has brought real struggles, challenges and loss for so many, and we are committed to lifting our communities up and providing support for those who need it.”
