Live & In Color: Feb. 15 showcase to feature musician Slimtronic5k and Sanibel artist Lacy McClary

Local musician Slimtronic5k and world-renowned Sanibel artist Lacy McClary are partnering to host a Live & In Color showcase on Feb. 15, 2024 to benefit Pace Center for Girls programs in Southwest Florida.

Featuring a blend of live arts and entertainment, the event will be held from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 15 at Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center, located at 2301 First St. in downtown Fort Myers.

During the showcase, McClary will paint live for the audience, completing one large abstract design comprised of 12 smaller 48-inch by 60-inch canvases. The live painting demonstration will be accompanied by three live performances, including opening acts by Carling Witt and the Sun State Blues, followed by headliner Slimtronic5k. Featuring his first-ever full-band appearance with his original music, Slimtronic5k will be accompanied by a band of talented local artists that include Sheena Brook, Matt Anastasi, Alan Linder, Caleb Neff and Rick Setser. At the end of the show, four of the 12 canvases – valued at more than $8,000 each – will be awarded via a prize drawing, and the remaining eight paintings will be donated to Pace.

Proceeds from the event will support Pace Center for Girls, Lee and Collier at Immokalee, providing girls and young women across Southwest Florida an opportunity for a better future through education, counseling, training and advocacy. Programs are based on the belief that all girls and young women, regardless of race, ethnicity or socioeconomic status, should be uniquely cared for, supported and encouraged to become the best versions of themselves through a path of healing and recovery.

“Live & In Color brings together live music and live art, all for a good cause,” said Slim “Slimtronic5k” Gillian, who is also the chief visionary of The Music Hub, the production company behind the show. “We’re proud to present this unique experience of the arts while we raise funds to support impactful programs for girls across Southwest Florida.”

McClary is best known for her whimsical, island-inspired paintings and reclaimed wooden boho art pieces which have adorned the walls of many private homes, condos, resorts, restaurants and galleries throughout the islands of Sanibel and Captiva, and beyond, for over a decade. Lacy McClary Studio came to life in 2004 when the artist moved to Sanibel Island and found herself filled with inspiration from her tropical surroundings.

The event will also spotlight Slimtronic5k’s first showcase. Performing at local venues since 2003, Slimtronic5k is known for his solo and duo work around town as “Soul Shakedown” as well as his presence in several local lineups including The Rowdy Bards, Fellowbliss and GypsyNative with Sheena Brook.

Live & In Color is presented by Dorcey Law Firm. Additional event sponsors include Garramone Plastic Surgery, The Treasure Chest, Worthington Realty, MudBugs Cajun Kitchen and Crowther Roofing. Additional sponsorship opportunities ranging $500 to $875 are still available for the event.

Tickets for the event are $55 per person, or $100 per couple. Admission includes one entry per person for the prize drawing of canvases. Additional entries may be purchased at one for $20 or six for $100.
