Builders Care, the nonprofit charitable arm of the Lee Building Industry Association (BIA) is hosting its ninth annual BBQ, Bands & Brew fundraising event on Sunday, April 9, 2017 from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Lee County Alliance for the Arts, 10091 McGregor Blvd. in Fort Myers. All funds raised go directly to Builders Care to aid its mission to provide emergency repairs and construction services to elderly, disabled and economically disadvantaged people who are unable to obtain home repairs through traditional means.
The fundraiser is open to the public and will feature live music from local headlining bands, along with several local barbecue restaurants and vendors. The event will also include a BBQ competition to name the best BBQ in town as well as activities for kids. Admission is $10 per person. Children ages 12 and under are free and free parking will be available.
BBQ, Bands and Brew will also hold its fifth annual Poker Run that will begin at 9 a.m. at Six Bends Harley-Davidson that includes a ride around Fort Myers ending at BBQ, Bands & Brew at the Lee County Alliance for the Arts. Registration for riders is $25 and $10 for passengers, which includes admission to the event. Best hand wins $500 and Harley-Davidson gear.
The second ever BBQ, Bands and Brew cornhole tournament will begin at noon with team registration from 11 a.m. to noon. The competition is open to the public and participants must bring a partner to play in the double-elimination format. The entry fee is $20 per two-person team, and prizes include $400 for first place and $100 for second place.
