Goal to bring financial literacy, entrepreneurship and work-readiness education to local students

Junior Achievement of Southwest Florida (JA) has joined #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide.

Occurring this year on Nov. 29, #GivingTuesday is held annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday to kick-off the holiday giving season and inspire people to collaborate in improving their local communities and to give back in impactful ways to the charities and causes they support.

“Junior Achievement helps young people create successful futures by giving them the skills and knowledge to be successful in the world of work,” said Angela Fisher, president and CEO of Junior Achievement of Southwest Florida. “We ask the Southwest Florida community support JA’s mission by going to http://jaswfl.org/donate/ and donate $100 on Nov. 29, Giving Tuesday. Our goal is give more students access to JA programs, and we’re asking for the community’s support.”

JA’s unique approach allows volunteers from the community to deliver JA curriculum while sharing their experiences with students. Embodying the heart of JA, classroom volunteers transform the key concepts of JA lessons into a message that inspires and empowers students to believe in themselves, showing them they can make a difference in the world. For every $100 donated, a classroom kit can be purchased. Each JA class is provided at no cost to the schools, students, or teachers.
