Waterfront destination slips into SWFL’s culinary scene

Slipaway Food Truck Park & Marina opened over Independence Day weekend to large, hungry crowds of Southwest Floridians. The waterfront destination in Cape Coral features 10 on-site food trucks, a full-service bar, shaded seating options, 30 boat slips, a fuel dock, Ship Store, unobstructed views of the Caloosahatchee River and more. Proceeds from the opening weekend benefited the Tunnels to Towers Foundation and guests offered a prime view of Cape Coral’s Red, White and Boom fireworks display, live music, giveaways, and food and drink offerings.

Southwest Floridian revs up dealerships in Wisconsin

Motorsports industry leader Scott Fischer Enterprises, based in Fort Myers, recently acquired two Harley-Davidson dealerships in Wisconsin. A ‘pawsome’ new place for pets

Gulf Coast Humane Society broke ground on a new state-of-the-art, 10,000-square-foot veterinary clinic that will serve as a critical resource for wellness services, spay/neuter surgeries, dental care and medical treatment for pet owners as well as shelter pets requiring medical care before they can be adopted. The medical center will be equipped with the latest veterinary technology, eight spacious exam rooms, and dedicated areas for veterinary specialists and surgical procedures. Slated for completion in spring 2026, the project is led by Stevens Construction, GMA Architects & Planners and RESPEC.

Resort’s redevelopment inches closer to approval

Lee County staff and its hearing examiner have recommended approval for South Seas Island Resort’s zoning application, a process required after much of the property was damaged or destroyed by Hurricane Ian in 2022. The redevelopment plan includes new multi-family units, hotel rooms and recreational amenities. Once redevelopment is complete, the resort expects to employ 813 permanent, direct onsite resort jobs.

Fort Myers restaurant makes pitch for Shoeless Joe

Shoeless Joe’s Sports Café became one of the first establishments in the U.S. to officially endorse “Shoeless” Joe Jackson’s candidacy for induction into the National Baseball Hall of Fame. The Fort Myers restaurant and sports bar has started an online petition and will be hosting in-restaurant events, serving food and drink specials, selling custom merchandise and scheduling community engagement activities through its Elect Shoeless Joe campaign. Jackson was part of the infamous “Black Sox” team in 1919, but MLB’s commissioner recently lifted his lifetime ban.
