New ‘eatertainment’ venue opens in Estero 

Southwest Florida has a new place to play, eat and be entertained. 810 Billiards & Bowling opened at Miromar Outlets in Estero and offers bowling, billiards, sports simulators, darts, axe throwing and arcade games. Its lunch, dinner and late-night menu includes appetizers, chicken wings and tenders, burgers, sandwiches, nachos, pizza, salads and sides. The Estero location also is home to the nation’s fourth Mean Mugs Milkshake Bar, known for its one-of-a-kind desserts with personality, fun and flavor. 

Priority Marketing handled pre-opening public relations, social media and marketing strategies for the Estero location, as well as event coordination and execution for a Media Preview Event and VIP Grand Opening Event with a ribbon cutting.

Veteran-serving organization receives ‘transformative’ donation 

An anonymous donor pledged to contribute a $500,000 legacy gift to Warrior Homes of Collier, a donation that will significantly boost the nonprofit group’s efforts to provide supportive housing for local veterans. The gift represents the largest single contribution to date for the 10-year-old nonprofit.

Brand-new school awaits Fort Myers students 

Construction crews completed the complete rebuild for Franklin Park Elementary in time to start the new school year in August in a new building. The School District of Lee County used proceeds from a half-cent sales tax increase to fund the project, which was part of the Housing Authority of the City of Fort Myers’ Greater Dunbar Initiative. Because Franklin Park is a Community Partnership of United Way of Lee, Hendry, and Glades, volunteers will line the walkways of the new school to greet students as they return from summer vacation.

Chamber honors top business, nonprofit leaders 

The Greater Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce honored local businesses and organizations through its third annual Chamber Awards, which recognize members for their outstanding contributions and impact to the greater Fort Myers community. This year’s winners included: 

Small Business of the Year: Face it Botox 

Large Business of the Year: Scotlynn 

Community Impact Award: Stefanie Ink-Edwards 

Entrepreneur of the Year: Ryan Carter 

Nonprofit Excellence Award: Gulf Coast Humane Society 

Young Professional of the Year: Kelly Thawley 

Additionally, the Chamber announced Dr. Sandra Pavelka, Professor and Founding Director of the Institute for Youth and Justice Studies at FGCU, as this year’s recipient of the Women in Business APEX Award.

Success prompts businesses to open new locations 

A pair of locally based companies recently announced plans to expand into new markets. 

Clarity Wealth, a wealth management practice based in Naples, has added a satellite office in The Villages, a master-planned 55+ community in Central Florida. P. Dean Lampe will serve as the location’s managing director – wealth advisor.

Chocolatier offers sweet savings 

Norman Love Confections celebrated Christmas in July with complimentary tastings, sweet savings and lucky winners. The team at Norman Love Confections played “Secret Santa” and hid “tokens of love” in random boxes at all six Norman Love Confections’ locations throughout Southwest Florida. Lucky winners who purchase a box with a “token of love” inside will take home a 25-piece Signature Collection gift box.

That was evident in July’s edition of Caught in the Act of Kindness, a monthly feature compiled by eBella magazine to spotlight those doing good in the community.
