Jennifer Nelson joins Boys & Girls Club as chief development officer

Boys & Girls Club of Collier County has hired Jennifer Nelson as chief development officer to build, develop and manage a comprehensive fundraising program for the nonprofit.

In this role, Nelson is responsible for all fundraising efforts, including setting the vision and strategy for the team, strengthening donor relations, events, planned giving, major gifts and the annual fund.

“Boys & Girls Club offers after-school and summer programs that can truly help all student members discover their full potential,” said Boys & Girls Club President and CEO Megan McCarthy Beauvais. “To do so, we need a robust fundraising and philanthropic program that ensures all children and teens can take advantage of the resources we offer, and Jennifer has the skills and expertise to make that happen.”

Prior to joining Boys & Girls Club, Nelson, with over 24 years of fundraising experience, was director of advancement at New Horizons of Southwest Florida, where she led a team that oversaw the nonprofit’s fundraising initiatives, events, grants and communications. She also served as vice president of external relations, where she led a team in fundraising, communications and local community fund efforts for the Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation and special events coordinator for the American Cancer Society.

Nelson earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Spanish from St. Olaf College. Her community service roles include serving as a board member for the Minnesota Gift Planning Association and committee member for Leave a Legacy MN.
