The Horizon Council’s Healthcare Task Force has extended the application deadline for the 2016 Healthy Workplace Awards to Monday, Oct. 10. The 2016 Healthy Workplace Awards recognize businesses that actively promote a healthy workplace for employees. Applications can be submitted online at https://form.jotform.com/62132981473154.
The awards will be presented to three businesses during the Horizon Council General Membership meeting at 8:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 28 at Crowne Plaza/Bell Tower in South Fort Myers. The awards are a collaborative effort between the Horizon Council, Horizon Foundation, the Chamber of Southwest Florida, Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) of SWFL and sponsored by United Healthcare. Awards will be given in the following categories: Small Business, Mid-sized Business and Large Business. The keynote speaker will be Mike Tinney, fitness gamification pioneer and Founder/CEO of FIX: Fitness Interactive eXperience. The discussion will focus on the importance of corporate wellness programs and how gamification can play a role.
The Horizon Council is a public-private board established in 1991 to advise the Lee County Board of Commissioners on economic development issues. The council has more than 80 members representing five cities; chambers of commerce; economic development and trade organizations; community, business, and education organizations; along with various officers and at-large members.
