Gulf Coast Village, the premier Continuing Care Retirement Community in Cape Coral, has completed its new Faith and Fitness Trail for residents to appreciate the natural beauty of their surroundings while maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
The 0.6-mile shaded path winds through mature trees on Gulf Coast Village’s 36-acre residential campus on Santa Barbara Boulevard in Cape Coral. Along the trail, four exercise stations offer opportunities for residents to build strength, flexibility, balance and endurance, as well as picturesque locations for self-reflection.
“Gulf Coast Village promotes healthy living for all of its residents, and the new Faith and Fitness Trail combines key components of our overall wellness program,” said Lori Robbins, wellness coordinator at Gulf Coast Village. “We are fortunate to be surrounded by an incredibly beautiful natural environment, and it’s our hope that residents incorporate a stroll around the trail into their daily routine. A little fresh air and exercise in the morning is the best way to start a day.”
The National Institute on Aging recommends moderate exercise for seniors to remain healthy and independent. Gulf Coast Village, which is sponsored by the nonprofit organization Volunteers of America, has an on-site fitness facility, physical rehabilitation area, shuffleboard courts and a year-round wellness program. The new Faith and Fitness Trail features four fitness stations for residents to strengthen their upper and lower bodies, in addition to stretching stations that help residents improve their balance and mobility.
Gulf Coast Village and the Gulf Coast Village Foundation shared costs to develop the Faith and Fitness Trail.
