Guests tour spectacular Willy Wonka-themed holiday décor to benefit Lee Health cancer care

Holiday spectacular raises $30,000 for expansion of the Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation Cancer Clinic in Bonita Springs

Nearly 200 guests toured the extravagant and whimsical holiday decorations at the Naples home of Theo and Madeleine Dahl, son and daughter-in-law of the late Roald Dahl, author of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and other favorite children’s stories.

The event on Dec. 6 raised $30,000 for the expansion of rehabilitative care services and programs at the Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation Cancer Clinic in Bonita Springs. The Dahls have hosted three holiday parties for the Lee Health Cancer Institute.

Guests enjoyed heavy hors d’oeuvres, candy and treats while touring the decorations, which featured 36 holiday trees, 10,000 individual ornaments, a full-size sleigh and more throughout the house. Each room offered a whimsical holiday scene, delighting attendees with festive charm.

The Dahls were inspired to host the fundraising party to support the expansion of Lee Health cancer services in honor of friends battling cancer, including their assistant Josh Brown, who is in remission after receiving treatment for colon cancer at Lee Health Cancer Institute.

Expansion of rehabilitative care services and programs in Bonita Springs includes the addition of four private cancer therapy rooms, a room for support garments and wigs, and other therapeutic resources, such as a new immersion wall that will create a soothing and tranquil environment for patients during treatment.

Fundraising is ongoing for the project to bring cancer services to residents close to home. The community has raised $641,440 so far this year. To learn more about the project and to donate, visit leehealthfoundation.org/event/dahl-party/.
