Guardian ad Litem Foundation, 20th Judicial Circuit, will host its second annual Jazz on the Harbor event on Saturday, April 4 to help meet a goal of providing one volunteer advocate for every youth in the child welfare system.
Held on the banks of beautiful Charlotte Harbor, Jazz on the Harbor is a music, culinary and sunset celebration highlighted by the smooth stylings of the Matt Bokulic Trio, whose members play acoustic piano, electric piano, electric bass, acoustic guitar, electric guitar and drums. Dinner will be catered by Hurricane Charley’s Raw Bar & Grill.
Proceeds from Jazz on the Harbor will help Guardian ad Litem Foundation recruit, train and support court-certified volunteer child advocates who serve as the “voice” for abused, neglected and abandoned youth as they navigate the judicial, education and child welfare systems. Across Southwest Florida, hundreds of children do not have an advocate acting on their behalf while under court supervision.
In addition to recruiting volunteer advocates, Guardian ad Litem Foundation also provides financial assistance to help meet a child’s basic and developmental needs while living in temporary homes. The Foundation regularly purchases new beds, clothing and school supplies, as well as provides funding for participation in sports, clubs, tutoring programs and other activities.
Jazz on the Harbor runs from 5:30 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, April 4 at Port Charlotte Beach Complex, 4500 Harbor Blvd. in Port Charlotte. Sunset will be at 7:47 p.m.
Tickets are $75 per person and available online at VoicesForKids.org/events.
