Guardian ad Litem Foundation, 20th Judicial Circuit, raised $10,028 at the nonprofit organization’s Fashion to a Tea fundraising event on Nov. 7.
Held at Twin Isles Country Club in Punta Gorda, Fashion to a Tea included an elegant high tea luncheon, silent auction and fashion show to raise money for Guardian ad Litem, which pairs volunteer advocates with abused, neglected and abandoned children.
The spirited fashion show featured models showcasing trendy women’s wear provided by Anthony’s Ladies Apparel, a Punta Gorda clothier. Many of the 145 fashionistas in attendance elected to wear ornamental, Kentucky Derby-style hats.
Fashion to a Tea was part of a series of fundraising events that will help Guardian ad Litem Foundation provide funds to recruit, train and support volunteer advocates who offer a voice on behalf of abused, neglected or abandoned children in the courts, schools and child welfare system. Only about 60 percent of Southwest Florida children in foster care currently have a volunteer advocate.
