The Greater Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce’s Women in Business Committee is hosting its “Purses for a Purpose” event on Wednesday, Nov. 1 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Langford Kingston Home, located at 2500 First St. in downtown Fort Myers.
During the event, attendees can place bids on new or gently used designer purses silent-auction style. All funds raised will go toward the Women in Business Scholarship Fund, which provides scholarships annually to non-traditional students at Florida Gulf Coast University, Florida SouthWestern State College and local technical colleges. These funds also support gap funding for industry certifications to assist with local workforce development efforts.
Women in Business is collecting donations of new or gently used designer purses for the event through Monday, Oct. 30. Those interested in making a donation can drop off handbags Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Chamber’s office, located at 1520 Lee St. #101; Dress for Success SW Florida, located at 12995 S. Cleveland Ave. in Fort Myers; or SeeMore.Solar, located at 901 S.E. 13th Place in Cape Coral.
The event’s host sponsor is Uncommon Friends Foundation. Bubbly Bee and Headpinz Entertainment Center will be the beverage sponsors and Chicken Salad Chick will provide food.
The Women in Business program is $10 for Chamber members and $20 for future members. Attendees can register at FortMyers.org or call 239-332-2930.
