Greater Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce to highlight educational initiatives at May 17 luncheon event

The Greater Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce invites the community to join in an insightful discussion on education and the Chamber’s Education Foundation during its May General Membership Meeting on Thursday, May 17. The event will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. at Pelican Preserve, 9802 Pelican Preserve Blvd. in Fort Myers.

The event will feature informative panel discussions with Foundation board and committee members on the Foundation and its role within the community. The first panel will feature an overview of the Foundation and its educational, grants and scholarship programs, and will be followed by a second panel focused on the future of the Foundation.

The Greater Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce Education Foundation works to support and assist the Greater Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce in its efforts to enhance education at a variety of levels in the Southwest Florida community. The Foundation, founded in 2004, has supported the chamber’s education guiding directive in a variety of ways including providing scholarships for college students, grants to educators and educational institutions, supporting educational programs, supporting seminars and workshops of interest for the benefit of the business community and providing recognition for outstanding educators and students.

Throughout the history of the Greater Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce and the Chamber’s Foundation, more than $600,000 has been raised to benefit educational institutions and programs, the community and local students.

The May luncheon is sponsored by Minaya Learning Global Solutions. The event’s gold member spotlight is The Prawnbroker Restaurant & Fish Market and the notebook sponsor is Keiser University. For more information about sponsorship opportunities, contact Stephanie Davis at stephanie@fortmyers.org.
