Greater Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce launches EXCELerate, mentoring for business excellence

Inaugural business mentorship event to be held Aug. 22

The Greater Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce is pleased to introduce EXCELerate, a new program that provides mentoring for business excellence.

The Chamber invites the community to attend its business mentorship event on Aug. 22 to learn more about the new program designed to support, propel and tap into the expertise of the community’s professionals, while mingling with interested mentors and mentees.

EXCELerate connects ambitious advancing professionals and entrepreneurs with practiced business leaders to enhance and elevate each other’s professional and personal development. The Greater Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce provides opportunities for emerging and experienced business professionals to connect and support each other, leading to a more progressive, sustainable community and empowering business professionals to stand out in an increasingly competitive market.

“In every field, a mentor can be a difference-maker in a career or business endeavor,” said Colleen DePasquale, president and CEO of the Greater Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce. “Most accomplished professionals can point to a specific person who invested time, energy and support in helping them navigate the workplace.”

To become part of the program, mentors and mentees will fill out an application. The Greater Fort Myers Chamber Foundation will match mentors and mentees based on industry, interests and needs. Participants determine their own meeting structure to connect at least 12 times over one year.

The introductory event will provide opportunities for mentors and mentees to meet their potential matches through a series of meet-and-greet activities. After interacting with other participants, mentors and mentees can then submit their feedback on preferred matches to facilitate the final pairing process.

The event will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 22 at The Collaboratory, 2031 Jackson Street in Fort Myers. Admission is free for Chamber members and future Chamber members. RSVP by Aug. 15 to linda@fortmyers.org.
