Golfer wins new Porsche with hole-in-one at 22nd annual Nichols Cup Pro-Am Golf Tournament

For the first time in tournament history, a golfer at the Nichols Cup Pro-Am Golf Tournament in Fort Myers aced a hole-in-one challenge to win a two-year lease to a new Porsche.

Mary Ruth Geny only needed one shot to hole out on hole number 6, which was sponsored by Porsche Fort Myers as this year’s par 3 hole-in-one challenge. The Bobby Nichols-Fiddlesticks Charity Foundation honored Geny, who also was part of the winning foursome for Fiddlesticks’ Loch Ness course, at the post-tournament Golfers Award Dinner on Feb. 19, when she was officially presented the grand prize of a 2024 Porsche Macan.

For several years, Porsche Fort Myers has sponsored the Bobby Nichols-Fiddlesticks Charity Foundation Pro-Am Golf Tournament, which raises vital funds to serve abused and at-risk children in Southwest Florida. As part of its sponsorship, Porsche Fort Myers offers Nichols Cup participants the chance to win a new Porsche by scoring a hole-in-one on a select hole each year.

“It’s always exciting to mix a challenge into a fundraising opportunity, and we’re incredibly grateful to Porsche Fort Myers for their continued support of the Foundation’s mission,” said Bryan Simmering, president of the Bobby Nichols-Fiddlesticks Charity Foundation. “We’re looking forward to continuing our partnership and giving away more dream cars to hole-in-one content winners, while raising money to make a meaningful difference in the lives of at-risk children for years to come.”

Founded by longtime Fiddlesticks resident Bobby Nichols, winner of 14 PGA Tour tournaments, including the 1964 PGA Championship, the PGA recognizes the Nichols Cup as one of the most successful community sponsored pro-ams in the country. Over the years, celebrities and professional athletes have participated in the charity golf tournament to bring attention to the charities that help at-risk children win at the game of life.

Since the formation of the Bobby Nichols Fiddlesticks Charity Foundation 22 years ago, over $18 million has been donated to local children’s charities, including a fundraising record of nearly $1.8 million at the 22nd annual Nichols Cup Pro-Am Golf Tournament.
