GMA Architects & Planners (GMA) has recently hired architect Charles Dickey as project architect and Christopher Moulton as an intern architect.
Dickey has been practicing architecture for over 30 years with firms in Washington DC, Charlottesville, Virginia, and Tallahassee, Florida, serving in a variety of roles including design, production, project management and administration.
Since earning his Bachelor of Design from the University of Florida and his Master of Architecture from Virginia Tech, Dickey has gained experience in a broad spectrum of project types including mixed use, commercial, residential, ecclesial, historic preservation and renovation.
Dickey has earned recognition from the American Institute of Architects (AIA) for such projects as The Midway Florida Volunteer Fire Department, The Brody Jewish Student Center at the University of Virginia and The Crossings at Fourth and Preston, a sixty-unit single room occupancy (SRO) for formerly homeless individuals located in Charlottesville, Virginia.
In his spare time, Dickey designs and fabricates children’s furniture, participates in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program and is active in Habitat for Humanity.
Dickey is registered in both Virginia and Florida.
University of Miami graduate, Moulton has joined GMA as an intern architect. Moulton began working in the industry in 2011 after receiving his degree in Architecture with a minor in Urban Studies. A Maryland native, Moulton lived a year and a half in Baltimore, spending time with TerraLogos Eco Architecture, PC, before relocating to Fort Myers. He has also spent time as a remote drafter for MGA Architecture of Honolulu, Hawaii and PDS Architecture of Fort Myers before finding a place with the GMA family.
Moulton has been involved in a number of projects including public and private work in Southwest Florida, Virginia, Hawaii, Washington DC, and Maryland. He has collaborated on several neighborhood revitalization projects in conjunction with Habitat for Humanity, multiple locations for the Sports Zone clothing and athletic apparel store, and Alfredo’s Restaurant in Fort Myers. He has assisted in multiple LEED-certified projects and helped with the publication of Baltimore’s Green Building Standards.
“I’m really still just starting out, but looking at the family they have here at this firm, I’m really excited about what we can accomplish as we continue to grow together. I don’t think I could’ve asked for a better place to be right now, because being here, I feel, affords me the opportunity to learn from some of the very best at what they do,” Moulton said.
