Fort Myers Miracle to celebrate strength, solidarity of armed forces at Military Appreciation Night on June 29

The Fort Myers Miracle are saluting all branches of the U.S. armed forces at a special Military Appreciation Night in advance of Independence Day.

All active duty personnel and veterans, as well as their immediate families, will be admitted free to the Miracle baseball game on Friday, June 29. Military Appreciation Night features an extensive pregame ceremony recognizing the military, celebrating the heroism of veterans and honoring the longstanding traditions of America’s armed forces. Miracle players will be wearing special USA-themed jerseys on June 29 and July 4, with those uniforms up for auction following the Independence Day game.

“The Miracle have an extensive history of supporting the men and women of our military, and Military Appreciation Night, which is presented by the American Legion, is our way to honor those individuals who sacrifice so much to protect America’s freedom,” said Chris Peters, president and general manager of the Fort Myers Miracle.

Spectators will be treated to a performance from Guns ‘n Hoses Pipes ‘n Drums of Southwest Florida when the gates of Hammond Stadium open at 6 p.m. Inside, representatives from 16 area veterans organizations will be participating in a pregame ceremony, which will be kicked off by a color guard and an honor guard offering a 21-gun salute.

The pregame program honors Gold Star Mothers, the American Red Cross and other organizations, and features a reading of names of Southwest Florida military personnel killed in action or missing in action. Taps will be performed and aircraft will carry out a ceremonial flyover before the first pitch.

Between innings, each branch of the U.S. armed forces will be recognized with a live rendition of their official military anthem: Air Force Song/Wild Blue Yonder (Air Force), The Army Goes Rolling Along (Army), Semper Paratus (Coast Guard), The Marines’ Hymn (Marine Corps) and Anchors Aweigh (Navy).

Following the game, Budweiser and B103.9 are presenting a fireworks show produced by Zambelli Fireworks. June 29 also features pregame happy hour drink specials, presented by Wicked Dolphin and B103.9, and Man Cave Giveaway items.

First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m. against the Lakeland Flying Tigers. Tickets purchased in advance start at $8.50.
