Fort Myers Brewing Company is holding a fundraising event Sunday, April 28 in support of a San Carlos Park couple whose home recently sustained significant fire damage.
The homeowners, Virgil Metcalf and his wife Karen Cheney, operate Flavour Street, a local food truck that makes stops at popular destinations around Southwest Florida, including regular appearances at Fort Myers Brewing. Fort Myers Brewing is rallying the support of the community to aid in the couple’s efforts to rebuild, with 100% of the proceeds from the upcoming fundraising event to benefit Metcalf and Cheney.
“Virgil, Karen and Flavour Street have had a longtime presence at our brewery, and when we learned of this devastating loss, we knew we could quickly turn to our awesome regulars, Flavour Street fans and members of the community to come together in support,” said Jen Gratz-Whyte, who co-founded Fort Myers Brewing with her husband, Rob Whyte. “Our hope is to bring some much-needed financial peace to Virgil and Karen as they work to rebuild their home, and we encourage our community to join us in this effort.”
The fundraising event will be held from noon to 8 p.m. on Sunday, April 28 at Fort Myers Brewing Company, 12811 Commerce Lakes Drive, Suite 28, in Fort Myers.
The event will feature food from The Sizzle Truck, Wicked Streatery, The Folkswagen and Red Roc Cravings, and live music throughout the day, including a performance by James Prather from noon to 3 p.m. and Neon Summer from 3 to 6 p.m.
Attendees can participate in a raffle drawing for a chance to win a selection of prizes, including rounds of golf and gift baskets from local restaurants, with proceeds to benefit Metcalf and Cheney.
Fort Myers Brewing is also facilitating a collection drive to help Metcalf and Cheney get back on their feet. Supporters are encouraged to drop off their donations during the event on Sunday.
