Marching their way to a million meals
Harry Chapin Food Bank and WINK News have had a long-time partnership in the fight against hunger. Once again they teamed up in February for the WINK Feeds Families March to a Million Meals. The campaign seeks to raise $500,000, which allows the Food Bank to provide 1 million healthy, nutritious meals to neighbors across Southwest Florida. Although February is a short month, the campaign still reached its goal days before the month’s end. WINK and its media partners – Gulfshore Business, Gulfshore Life, WINK FM and Naples Press – all lent their support to make the drive a success. WINK produced a series of stories that aired throughout the month, including the following:

On Feb. 24, WINK set up a mobile studio to broadcast live at Harry Chapin Food Bank’s distribution center in Fort Myers. WINK dedicated nearly an hour of airtime to hunger relief from 5-9 a.m., resulting in gifts that will provide 105,550 meals – the equivalent of more than 7 meals per second during the four-hour broadcast period!

Cancer center opens Phase I in Estero
Advocate Radiation Oncology and Lee Health recently celebrated the grand opening of separate clinics within Southwest Florida Proton, located in Estero. Advocate operates a traditional radiation oncology practice, while Lee Health operates a diagnostic imaging center. Leaders from all partners gathered for a ribbon-cutting to mark the milestone.

Veteran to serve as grand marshal of Naples parade
The 49th annual Naples St. Patrick’s Day Parade will feature a familiar face as grand marshal – Dale Mullin, founder and president of Warrior Homes of Collier. A Vietnam War veteran and retired Fortune 500 executive, Mullin founded the nonprofit in 2014 to ensure no Collier County veteran in need is left behind. Over the past five years, Warrior Homes has opened six homes for veterans in Naples, with 39 available beds serving a total of 87 residents.

Pharmacy simplifies prescription delivery
Island Wellness Pharmacy, set to open later this year, launched a new prescription pickup kiosk inside Jerry’s Foods, making it easier than ever for Sanibel residents to access vital medications. The kiosk will operate in partnership with the pharmacy’s sister location, Cypress Wellness Pharmacy, in Fort Myers, helping enhance accessibility, convenience and customer service.
