ECHO, a leading non-profit advocate for sustainable agriculture and food security across the globe, is set to host a day of gardening events at its North America Impact Center on 17391 Durrance Road in North Fort Myers on Saturday, Oct. 12.

Get into Gardening will take place from 9 a.m.to 3 p.m. and will feature gardening workshops, tours of ECHO’s Global Farm and a plant sale.

The free workshops include:

  • 10 a.m. Florida Gardening – How to successfully grow your own garden in the Florida climate, including what plants do best and how to keep them healthy.
  • 11:30 a.m. Seed Saving – Learn basic skills to begin seed saving in your home and/or community garden. Topics will include plant reproduction, planning the seed garden, seed harvest, drying, processing and storage. Hands-on activities tie it all together.
  • 1 p.m. Propagation = More Plants for Free – The term propagation may sound intimidating, but it simply means to increase what you have. Learn easy ways to multiply the number of plants by cutting, seed germination, and division.

Tours of ECHO’s Global Farm will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Space is limited and registration in advance is recommended. Visit https://echonet.org/make-an-impact/get-involved/visit-echo/ to register for a tour.

As part of the day-long event, ECHO will be offering 20% to 50% off all plants from the farm as well as 50% off its collection of jewelry handmade by the Ati women from the Philippines.
